WOVAE is a husband-and-wife company based in Orange County, California. We make organic cotton period underwear — and we publish the third-party lab test for every production batch, with the lab name and signature visible. Not a screenshot. Not a marketing summary. The receipts.
We didn’t start a brand because we wanted to start a brand. We started one because we couldn’t find the answers we wanted from anyone else.
Why we started
Ashley spent years researching cleaner everyday products for our family — looking past the marketing, into ingredient lists, certifications, and lab tests. We have two boys, both with bilateral mild-to-moderate hearing loss; both wear hearing aids. When you spend a lot of time in audiology offices and with developmental specialists, you stop trusting labels and start asking for data.
That habit carried over to the rest of the house. Cookware, cleaning supplies, mattresses, and eventually — period underwear. The category looked simple from the outside. From the inside, it was anything but. The leading brand had been sued over PFAS. Independent testing organizations were publishing inconsistent results for the rest. Most brands said “non-toxic” on a graphic and called it a day. Almost none would show you the lab certificate for the exact pair you were about to wear.
So we built the brand we wanted to buy from. Organic cotton body. PFAS-free gusset by design. And the lab’s actual PDF — batch number, test date, signature — published at /lab-results for every batch we ship.

Co-founder
Joey Bolohan
Co-founder of WOVAE. Runs operations, supply chain, and the lab-test transparency program. Builds the systems that make publishing per-batch lab reports something we can actually do at scale.
Where we’re based
WOVAE LLC is registered in California, with operations based in Orange County. Our manufacturing partner is a Fair Trade-certified factory that has been making knit cotton underwear for over a decade. Every finished piece is tested to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 Class I — the same chemistry class required for clothing made for infants — and every production run ships with a fresh independent PFAS test before it leaves the factory.
